Weighted factor models (WFMs) are a decision-making tool that helps to decide between multiple alternatives based on multiple criteria, each with pre-defined weights. The model calculates a single score for each alternative, usually by taking the weighted mean.

WFMs can be used to decide the most promising country for an intervention by considering criteria such as the scale of the problem, the availability of necessary infrastructure, and the absence of existing NGOs. They can also be used to help decide a career path by considering the salary, potential impact, secondary benefits, personal growth potential of different job openings.
