The EA and Judaism Intro Fellowship is an 8-week virtual program you can do alongside school or work that explores the core ideas of effective altruism and their relation to Jewish tradition, texts, culture, and history. 

The fellowship will explore questions such as: 

• What do Jewish texts and tradition have to say about our obligations to the global poor, animals, and future generations?
• How much better are the best options to do good compared to others?
• What can we do to most effectively address pressing global problems like global poverty, pandemics, and risks from emerging technologies?
• Is there a uniquely “Jewish” approach to doing good?
• How should we balance concern for Jewish priorities vs. global priorities?

It’s an opportunity to deepen your understanding of global issues and their relation to Jewish texts and tradition; increase the impact you achieve through your career, donations and other projects; and connect with other Jews pursuing high impact paths in a diverse range of fields.

In addition to providing a structured format for reading and discussion, we also connect fellows who are interested in particular areas of social impact with relevant people, resources, and opportunities to help them achieve the impact they are excited to achieve.  

The fellowship is open to people of all Jewish backgrounds and does not adopt the perspective of any particular Jewish denomination or community. It will start the week of October 15th and last for 8 weeks, until the week of December 9th. Each week, fellows will read ~2 hours of carefully curated texts and participate in a 60-minute small group discussion with other participants and a trained facilitator.
