Given the increasing number of forum users, and the difficulty for newcomers without a social network of getting input on their posts, I thought I'd highlight this Facebook group (I have no affiliation to it, if that matters for a FB group).
It doesn't look very active, but I think if you post an open-access Google doc in there, many people will still receive a notification about it and potentially read your work.
Thanks for sharing! For reference, it is also possible to request feedback from the EA Forum team by clicking on the leftmost button at the bottom of the post edition page.
Seems like this could be a good resource!
Minor note is that the number of forum users peaked in Nov. 2022 and has been declining since.
What happened in 2022, out of interest? Anyone know?
The FTX collapse took place in November 2022. Among other things, this resulted in a lot of negative media attention on EA.
It's also worth noting that this immediately followed a large (very positive, on the whole) media campaign around Will MacAskill's book What We Owe the Future in summer 2022, which I imagine caused much of the growth earlier that year.
Not very active, but asking feedback on any type of EA-related writing is also welcome in the #role-writers channel in the EA Anywhere slack: https://www.effectivealtruismanywhere.org/get-involved
I'm the admin of that Facebook group. Do you have any suggestions for what I/we could do to help it serve its purpose of helping EAs better?
I think there's some kind of network effect? It's more attractive to post there the more people post there. Such things are hard to get going, and maybe need constant input. Maybe you could ask someone on the EAAnywhere channel Jeroen mentioned to pin a comment linking to it/add it to the description.
