TL;DR: Apply here by Friday 21 July to run the Cambridge AI Safety Hub, starting September 2023.
The Cambridge AI Safety Hub (CAISH) is a group based in Cambridge, UK, which aims to support people in Cambridge and across the world who are working to address societal-scale risks from AI. CAISH was founded in September 2022 and previous activities include:
- Introductory reading groups based on the AI Safety Fundamentals curriculum;
- A research programme consisting of supervised group projects;
- Two machine learning bootcamps.
Cambridge has a high concentration of AI safety researchers, in particular David Krueger’s lab, and the hub has much potential to continue improving and scaling its activities. CAISH members have access to the Meridian Office, a co-working and meeting space in central Cambridge.
Until summer 2023, CAISH has been run by a single full-time organiser (Hannah Erlebach), who is stepping down to work on other things and is looking for another person, or group of people, to take over running the hub.
If you’re interested in the role, apply for funding via the OpenPhil University Organiser Fellowship by Friday 21 July (if you can't make this deadline but are still interested, email matt.putz@openphilanthropy.org). We hope decisions to be made by early August, and successful applicants will be expected to start in September 2023.
You can find a more detailed description of the Cambridge AI Safety Hub, and how to apply, here. If you have any questions, comment on the doc (preferred) or email hannah@cambridgeaisafety.org; I’m pretty busy with other things these days, but I’ll do my best to reply promptly!
