Expression of Interest Post for Survey Stakeholder Feedback group

Seeking Advisors: Multinational Survey on Islamic Perspectives on Animal Welfare

TLDR: Please fill out the linked form if you work on farmed-animal welfare activism or research in countries with significant Muslim populations, and are interested in helping inform our farmed-animal welfare survey research.

We (Animetrics and I) are launching a major survey across 15 countries to understand Muslim perspectives on halal practices, animal welfare, and food consumption. This research, funded by the Food Systems Research Fund, will provide critical insights to improve farmed animal welfare efforts in Muslim-majority contexts.

Why we need your help: Because there are so many questions we could ask, and won’t have the opportunity to ask all of them this time round - in order to ensure this research generates actionable insights, we're forming a small advisory group of stakeholders who can help refine our approach. We want to understand what specific data points would be most valuable to:

• Advocates working on farmed animal welfare in Muslim-majority regions
• Activists working on reducing meat consumption in countries with large muslim populations
• Activists who’ve thought about working on Islamic farmed-animal welfare but don’t know where to start
• Funders evaluating opportunities in this space

Who we're looking for:

• Advocates working on farmed animal welfare and/or dietary change in countries with significant Muslim populations
• Researchers with experience in animal welfare and/or food systems
• Funders with interest in this area

Time commitment: At this stage, we’re planning on sending out a 10-15 min survey to our stakeholder feedback group before the end of April.

This project is being conducted by Kaleem Ahmid and Animetrics, with funding from the Food Systems Research Fund. The final dataset will be open-sourced to maximize impact.
